"I came to Maulbronn because of my memories of the amazing atmosphere from the previous year. Here you can really develop your musical skills, the lecturers are very professional and the idyllic environment of the monastery gives me new inspiration. The rooms and spaces in the monastery make it especially easy for me to open myself to music."
"The special thing about Maulbronn is the coherent overall concept, both for us as lecturers and for the participants: high levels of musical ability in a historical location, in which music has been played and experienced for hundreds of years. The monastery offers the inspiration, the peace and the space for concentrated work."
Every year in the penultimate week of the Baden-Württemberg school summer holidays the Maulbronn monastery is brought to life by young musicians and filled with music. In the Maulbronn summer classes talented students and pupils have the chance to develop their skills by taking a course led by renowned artists and lecturers and to profit from their expert knowledge.
Participants are accommodated within the walls of the monastery in the historic buidings of the Ev. Seminar. During the school year these buildings serve as the living and working area for pupils at the Ev. Seminar (protestant boarding school).
The forerunner of the Maulbronn summer classes were the piano master classes, which have been offered as part of the monastery concert season by our Artist in Residence Bernd Glemser since 2006. A master class with Bernd Glemser is still taking place but the pianist has, in a new additional venture, invited further colleagues to join him in offering their own master classes.
In 2020 Nimrod Guez, soloist and university professor, will give a viola master class.
This year, the summer classes will take place from August 30th till September 3rd. A closing concert by selected course participants will take place at the end of the course on Thursday September 3rd, 2020.
Bernd Glemser is, according to the Badische Zeitung (newspaper) "the magician of his generation at the piano" and has been accliamed for years as one of the best international contemporary pianists. From an early age he made his name known by winning all of the prizes that there are to be won on the piano scene, 17 of them in a row! He has recorded 35 CDs to date and has taken part in numerous radio and TV productions. He is Professor of Piano at the Wuerzburg University of Music, Bavaria.
2005 he became 1st principle violist at the Gewandhaus Orchester zu Leipzig. From 2008 to 2012 he held the same position at the Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks. Furthermore, he played as a leader of the viola section of the Chamber Orchestra of Europe on a regular basis.
Out of his great affection for early music, he plays the baroque violin since 2010. In 2012, Nimrod Guez was appointed professor for viola at the Wuerzburg University of Music, Bavaria.
Nimrod Guez performs as a violin, viola and baroque violin soloist. He is a highly sought-after musician for chamber music. He plays at the side of well-known artists such as Janine Jansen, Vilde Frang, Liza Ferschtman, Sebastian Klinger, Nicolas Altstaedt and Maximilian Hornung at various festivals.
